A prolific writer since childhood, Cheryl has over a hundred published scripts which include full length and one act plays, plays for schools and youth theatre, pantomimes, monologues and comedy sketches. Cheryl’s work is published by Lazy Bee Scripts, Spotlight Publications and now by Smith Scripts.
Discovering a passion for drama many years ago, Cheryl has also run drama workshops for children, storytelling sessions and pantomime workshops. She enjoys singing, directing and has acted in comedies, serious drama, pantomimes and musical theatre, one of her favourites was appearing in a musical comedy at The King’s Head Theatre in Islington a few years ago
Cheryl writes theatre reviews and articles for Sardines Magazine for Amateur Theatre and has written articles for Sardines annual pantomime supplement since its concept. Her books, ‘The Pantomime Writers Book of Gags and Routines’ and ‘More Gags and Routines’, co-written with Bob Heather, have proved a popular resource for pantomime writers. Cheryl loves pantomime and has written, directed and appeared in many pantomimes over the years. and has played a variety of panto characters from Fairy Godmother, Comic Duo and Villainess to Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, a Robot and the front end of a camel.
Cheryl lives on the Isle of Wight with her husband Peter May, and they have performed their comedy monologues and duologues at spoken word events on the island. Cheryl continues to be an active member in amateur theatre.
