‘I.D.’ , a powerful and poignant play about gender and identity that has a message for everyone about the importance of finding our selves.
It opens with a music video, then switches to the stage to tell the story of Ian and how his transition impacts the lives of people around him, especially his loving and supportive mum, Elaine, and her close friends Gemma and Keith.
It turns out that loud, sporty Keith is asking questions about his own identity, and he turns to his godson Ian for advice…

CHARACTERS

Ian – teenage; could be played by a male or female
Elaine – Ian’s mother; early middle age.
Gemma – anywhere from 20s to middle age; a business woman.
Keith – middle age; the performer must be comfortable appearing dressed as a woman in Act 2.
Stage crew – one person is needed to assist with scene changes, and to assemble the shop mannequin.

RUNNING TIME

Approx 90 minutes including interval
