WHAT I LEFT BEHIND by Anthony J. Piccione


“What I Left Behind” is a drama in one-act which explores teen suicide, its impact, and the repercussions it has on those left behind. The play focuses on a young high school student suffering from severe depression brought on by bullying at the hands of classmates, who shocks everyone by taking their own life. In the aftermath, what’s left of the student’s consciousness assesses all the events leading up to the incident, and begins to reconsider the ultimate decision that was made.



Ghost of Teenager            The ghost of the central character, who tells the audience his/her story

Teenager                           The living incarnation of the central character, shown during flashbacks

Mom                                   The teenager’s mother

Dad                                     The teenager’s father

Bully                                    One of the students, who expresses regret

Therapist                              Tries not to get the teenager to hurt himself/herself

Students                               Various kids who bully or don’t care for the teenager
