REVIEWS

Review from Paul Vale from The Stage

The Rally by Nieve Hearity

This is a tragedy of Jacobean proportions and as a first play, marks an exciting step in Nieve Hearity’s career. Her blissfully naturalistic dialogue fleshes out this multi-layered thriller, while Justin Chinyere’s assured direction fuses the intimacy of a television drama with the bold visual narrative of the stage. The plot is a gripping murder-mystery, channelling themes of first love, lies and religious fundamentalism and the performances are equally exciting, notably Natalia Hinds as the belligerent, conflicted Kate.

This was a literate and emotionally engaging drama almost perfectly realised.
