This is a short murder mystery play to be performed on Zoom, filmed and shown on YouTube etc or recorded as a radio play. Set in 1948 in an English country manor house, the story revolves around the auction of a Monet painting, an upcoming marriage, some dodgy dealing by the housekeeper and butler, and ends with the murder of the housemaid. Viewers can be invited to submit their accusations and theories at the end if required. A confession by the murderer is included as a final scene.

CHARACTERS

Charles Mandeville: A man in his 50s. The owner of Mandeville Manor

Rosalind Mandeville: A woman in her 50s. Charles’ wife.

Arabella Mandeville: A woman in her early 20s. The daughter of Charles and Rosalind.

Barnaby Brompton: A man in his early 20s. Arabella’s fiancé

Raymond Carter: A man in his 40s/50s. A friend of Charles’

Gladys Evans: A woman in her 50s/60s. The housekeeper at the manor house.

Harold Simmonds: A man in his 50s/60s. The butler at the manor house.

Martha Brown: A woman in her 20s. A housemaid at the manor house.
