SMITH SCRIPTS was established in 2016 by Paul Smith with the intention of offering great scripts for a good price for both amateur and professional theatre companies.
We have grown considerably since we started and now have over 1000 scripts of all genres and for a wide-range of audiences.
Authors we represent come from across the world; from UK, USA, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Spain, Australia, Canada, Nigeria, France, Cyprus, Poland and many others. Many of the writers have won awards for their work and we are privileged to be able to offer them on our site.
In 2020 we launched a ‘Scripts For The NHS’ scheme, where we were able to raise money to help support the health service in the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic. Writers sent us scripts which we were able to offer for free performance in return for donations. It was a great success and lead to a rapid rise in interest in our catalogue. This and a sudden influx of interest from writers in the USA took SMITH SCRIPTS to new heights in a year when theatres
were largely closed.
We continue to champion new writing and look to uncover scripts which have been
forgotten about and deserve a place in the public domain.
Paul Smith has been involved in theatre in some form or another for over 50 years and now runs the business in between writing scripts and reviewing theatre productions.
He has recently been joined by Mohamed El Amine Sari to assist on website development and marketing.
Paul Smith is indebted to Chris Ford of Chris Ford Graphic Design for all his help in the creation of the website and the on-going support for it.
